October is Dyslexia Awareness Month at the Family and Child Support Center (FCSC). To mark this event, the FCSC is offering a half-price dyslexia screening for children aged 5 and above.
Dyslexia is a language-based difficulty. It is diagnosed when children struggle to read and spell accurately or fluently. It is the most common developmental difficulty affecting middle childhood and early identification and intervention are crucial. A screening assessment measures a child’s ability to manipulate sounds and read words. It will indicate the probability of dyslexia and whether further assessment and support is required.
In addition to screening and assessing for dyslexia, the FCSC also offers individual and group-based literacy support.
