La Leche League

La Leche League started in 1956 when two of the founders were sitting under a tree nursing their babies and they were astonished by the number of women who approached them saying, “I wanted to nurse my baby but…”. They were convinced each of these mothers could have nursed her baby with support from fellow mothers.

About

La Leche League started in 1956 when two of the founders were sitting under a tree nursing their babies and they were astonished by the number of women who approached them saying, “I wanted to nurse my baby but…”. They were convinced each of these mothers could have nursed her baby with support from fellow mothers.

The purpose of La Leche League is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information, and education and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and mother.

La Leche League KAUST was founded in 2018 and currently has two accredited La Leche League leaders, Margherita Zocca (President) and Janet van Niekerk (Treasurer).

Services Offered

We have monthly meetings (currently online) where moms can meet to give and receive breastfeeding support.

The LLL leaders also provide individual breastfeeding counseling either through Whatsapp, phone calls, or home visits.
