TKS Partners with KCRI to host Mate-ROV Regional Competition

07 May, 2024

Mate-ROV is an international program offered to school and university students – to inspire and challenge them to solve real-world problems, and to develop the skills of the next generation of marine engineers and ROV pilots.

The Mate-ROV program is currently delivered in more than 16 countries.  The program culminates in a World Competition where all the countries and teams come together to compete.  This year, the World Competition will be held in Tennessee, US.

In order to progress through to the World Competition, teams must compete (and win) their Regional Competition. TKS –in partnership with the KAUST Coral Restoration Initiative – is excited to be hosting the Saudi Arabia Regional Competition on May 16 and 17, 2024.  Fingers crossed, one of the TKS teams will qualify to compete in the World Competition.

10 teams from Elementary, Middle and High School are competing in the Regional Competition:

  • SCOUT teams (Elementary) - Thursday, May 16 – 3.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m.
  • NAVIGATOR teams (Middle) - Friday, May 17 – 8.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.
  • RANGER teams (High) - Friday, May 17 – 8.00 a.m. – 3.00 p.m.

Come along and support our ROV teams!
