Experience living in the KAUST Smart Home

The KAUST SMART home has welcomed reliable SMART home caretakers from across the KAUST Community including staff and KAUST university students, over the last 3 months. We look forward to receiving new applications and continuing the complimentary short stay of 2 weeks by our KAUST community in the SMART Home. Your stay and shared experience will help shape the home’s future direction.

The SMART Home caretakers so far, have lived the principles supporting the home’s achievement of LEED platinum certification and used the SMART technology incorporated into its construction. We look forward to sharing features of the home including keyless entry and other smart home utilities such as SMART lighting and Green Home Amenities. 

The KAUST SMART home as a living lab, continues to responds to the needs of increasingly tech-savvy residents, working remotely and seeking technology solutions that make their lives easier.

Who can reserve a stay?

  • The opportunity is available to all KAUST employees, Postdocs, Faculty, Graduate students, Visiting Students and KAUST Consultants
  • Up to 3 single individuals occupying the unit as sharers (single gender occupancy only)
  • Families with children 12 years of age and above

Are there any requirements?

During the SMART home stay, caretakers will:

  • Allow for periodic tours of the home as required
  • Provide periodic feedback on SMART Home related surveys
  • Help design the SMART home data gathering and analysis process
  • Allow access to FM Maintenance teams for planned and / or reactive maintenance as needed
  • Maintain defined areas clean and free of clutter
  • Follow maintenance instructions provided for SMART home facilities
  • Maintain a smoke free internal environment
  • Ensure pets are not admitted into the home
