Every year on April 22, Earth Day (also called International Mother Earth Day) marks the anniversary of the birth of the modern environmental movement in 1970. Today, more than 1 billion people in over 190 countries participate in actions and projects to mark Earth Day – driving positive action for our planet.
The focus of Earth Day is to raise global public awareness of the challenges to the well-being of our planet and all the life it supports. The Day recognizes a collective responsibility to promote harmony with nature and the Earth, and to create a balance between the economic, social and environmental needs of the present and future generations.
