The Art Club is hosting a one-off drawing workshop by Nelson Ferreira, a Portuguese drawing specialist, who will be visiting KAUST in early December 2023. Nelson specialises in the classic Barque style of drawing, which uses charcoal for realistic representations and shading techniques.

Time: 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
Place: Art Studio, Island Recreation Center
Cost: 200 SAR per person to be paid in cash at the class. All material required will be provided including charcoal, pencils and paper.
Nelson Ferreira is a professional painter specialising in 15th century Primitive Flemish methodologies of Painting, as well as 19th century Academic drawing and painting techniques.
In the United Kingdom, he is a visiting lecturer for the National Portrait Gallery, Saatchi Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum, Chiswick Business Park (Paramount Pictures, Discovery Channel etc), amongst others. He is also the first international visiting lecturer for Indonesia's state university (Universitas Negeri Jakarta and Malang). He also taught drawing and painting at Islamic University of Malang (AmCor of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang), Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon, Art Institute of Autonomous University of Lisbon, Portugal's National Gallery of Ancient Art etc.
He was invited in 2022 to be the first artist in residence at the sculpture garden of Portugal's National Museum of Contemporary Art - the world's first national museum of contemporary art (since 1911). This year, Nelson had several solo exhibitions in Lisbon, Porto, Batalha and Cascais totalling over 200.000 visitors.
