We have great news for beach lovers. KAUST beaches have recently been refurbished. Learn below what South Beach and North Beach have on offer.

 

South Beach

Our popular swimming beach is a community favorite for both being active and relaxing on the beautiful Red Sea shore. South Beach provides access to watersports, beach activities, and is a great place to go for a swim in the salt water.

Access

KAUST ID or pass holders can enter the beach during the opening times. Below are winter hours valid from September to May, 2022:

 

  • Sunday, CLOSED
  • Monday, 10:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M. (Ladies only day, every Monday, 10:00 A.M.- 6:00 P.M.)
  • Tuesday, 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
  • Wednesday, 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.
  • Thursday, 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M.
  • Friday, 9:00 A.M. - 8:00 P.M. (Ladies only morning, every first Friday of the month, 9:00 A.M.- 12:30 P.M.)
  • Saturday, 9:00 A.M. - 6:00 P.M.

Activities

This beautiful and relaxing location offers activities such as swimming and snorkeling, pedalo, kayak, windsurfing, and stand-up paddle boarding in the Red Sea. There are also BBQ facilities, beach volleyball, a snack bar, and a playground.

Over 40 cabanas and sun lounges are waiting for you to enjoy on this beautifully arranged beach. Access the swimming area and the water inflatables under the eyes of our friendly and experienced lifeguards.

Two private cabanas are available for hire with some refreshments for only 190 SAR for 4 hours. Pre-booking is required and the contacts are below.

 

Facility upgrades

As part of our commitment to the continual improvement of Community Life facilities and services, we recently re-sanded the beach. A new beach restaurant and club is under construction and will be offered to the community in phases.

 

South Beach guidelines

To create safe and unforgettable beach memories for everyone, we would like to remind you that the South Beach Guidelines are in place and must be followed by all beach participants.

 

North Beach

This is a beautiful community space to spend free time. It has clean, well-maintained white sand nestled amid the natural mangroves. North Beach is a great place to play in the sand, enjoy the landscape and be active. It is the perfect venue for community events, such as watersports, yoga, beach parties, and sunset picnics.

There is a small wading area in the water at North Beach. Swimming is not permitted.

 

Access

North Beach is an open space with access 24-hours per day and seven days per week for residents to enjoy the sunset, sunrise, walking track, and more. Access is available from the Island Recreation Club parking lot, or through the entering zones (1 to 6) in between residential areas.

Activities

This beach is set up with colorful chairs, tables, cozy bean bag chairs, and cabanas to enjoy beautiful views of the Red Sea coast. There is a designated area in shallows for paddling and searching for seashells. There is also access to grills, a volleyball net, and loads of beach space to kick a ball, fly a kite, or build a sandcastle. You can bring your pet too.

 

Facility upgrades

North Beach recently received freshly painted furniture, newly fitted cabanas, and comfortable new bean bag chairs. 

 

North Beach safety

Please be extra cautious as swimming is not permitted. The dress code is in place, littering is not acceptable, and children under the age of 16 must be supervised by an adult.
