Closure of Safety Town and Gardens Playgrounds

04 February, 2021

The Gardens and Safety Town Playgrounds will be closed today, February 4, until further notice due to non compliance with the Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines. Despite previous notices on the importance of complying with the Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines, overcrowding at community playgrounds has continued, and therefore requires restrictions be put in place.

All other playgrounds will be closely monitored to ensure the Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines are being followed and will be closed if needed

Following the Keeping KAUST Safe Guidelines is essential to prevent further closures and we urge community members to comply.

For your safety:

  • NEW: Face coverings are now required at all times in playground areas. Children under 2 years of age are exempt – Learn more
  • Everyone must maintain proper physical distance and wait their turn to use play areas
  • Parents should supervise their children at all times and instruct their children not to touch their faces, not to put their mouths on equipment or hands in their mouths
  • Children must be supervised by a parent or other adult to ensure Keeping KAUST Safe guidelines are being followed
  • Limit your time at the playground. If the playground you normally visit is busy, find another one to use
  • Cover coughs and sneezes
  • Use hand sanitizer or wipes frequently

Failure to observe these guidelines could lead to the spread of COVID-19 within our community and result in further closures. We recommend that community members take a practical approach to ensure an enjoyable and safe play experience.
