The King Abdullah Monument

King Abdullah Monument

The King Abdullah Monument (KAM) is a unique artistic structure depicting a spectacular blue waterfall. When viewed from above the structure depicts a huge eye. The monument is built on the exact place where King Abdullah made his most famous speech.

KAM has been the venue for many big events; none bigger than the KAUST 10-Year Anniversary (September, 2019). From beach parties to sporting competitions, KAM is always a popular place for community events. The sea front offers beautiful views of the Red Sea and spectacular sunsets. The surrounding gardens offer picnic and children's play areas. This is one of KAUST's most pleasant community spaces and a 'must see' venue.

This uniquely beautiful area offers a range of habitats to the visiting birdwatcher. A walk back towards KAUST campus is highly recommended; giving great views over the mangroves where both resident and migrant birds can be seen. Larger herons, including spoonbills, western ospreys, waders, herons and terns frequent the area, attracted by the mudflats, beach, and mangrove.
