As a service to the community, KAUST Health is providing the flu vaccine for free during these walk-in days. No insurance or administration fee are required.
Flu vaccine and children
Some children ages 6-months through 8-years require two doses of the flu vaccine. The first dose essentially "primes" the immune system, while the second dose provides immune protection.
Who needs a second vaccine?
If your child is getting vaccinated for the first time or has only previously gotten one dose of vaccine, your child should get two doses of vaccine this season. If your child has previously gotten two doses of vaccine (at any time) s/he only needs one dose of vaccine this season.
When do they need it?
The second dose should be given at least 28 days after the first dose. Be sure to get your child a second dose if s/he needs one. It usually takes about two weeks after the second dose for protection to begin.
How can my child get the second vaccine?
This can be done by appointment with a KAUST Health Family Medicine Consultant or Pediatrician or on the day of the next flu campaign.
