As we deal with a situation that is unprecedented in our lifetime, we have been required to adapt and respond in ways that we could not have ever imagined. As a community, we have modified our behaviors in order to protect ourselves and each other. Below you will find information and resources that describes that response.

Introduction by VP Chris Sealey

While we have all experienced the impact of COVID-19 on our daily lives, and in varying degrees over the past several  Chris-Sealey-covidpagemonths, as a community we can all be proud of our response to the formidable challenges that this global pandemic has brought. It has been a privilege to participate in and to witness our shared commitment to the continued health and safety of our community, in tandem with our commitment to the ongoing and important work of the university.

Guided and, indeed, driven by this commitment, we have implemented systems to Keep KAUST Safe and to support the wellbeing of all of our community members as we return to the workplace and move to the new normal. Our workplaces are up and running, just as efficiently although somewhat differently than before. Our children continue to grow and learn, but the environment they are doing that in is very different from what we would have imagined a year ago

Living and thriving in such challenging circumstances requires not only cohesion and dedication in setting up systems but also “buy in” from the community as a whole. Our goal is to communicate, clearly and with transparency, what we are doing and why we are doing it. Our response to COVID-19 is a result of the hard work of multiple teams across the university but the sustainability of our response relies on the commitment of each of us individually.
